Lectures and Speaker Series

My goal is to find and attend lectures and speaker series in the nyc area.

So far, I've enjoyed the Google Talk series. They don't seem to have a good web presence; these links are pretty useless: link, link. This ought to work though: nyspeakerseries@google.com.

Useful: 92nd Street Y.

Useful: Club Free Time: Free talks, lectures, seminars, conferences.

Useful: Books, Readings, and Lectures in New York City - New York Magazine.

This could be interesting: Dow Jones Speaker Series @ Metropolitan College of New York.

NYU: NYU Office of Public Affairs: Coming Events, events.nyu.edu. Events by department. Unfortunately, I've missed the spring series here.

Columbia Events.

Cooper Union Events.

Lauder Wharton Speaker Series.

Symphony Space's Thalia Book Club

CUNY hunter.

New School (including Parsons)

Barnard

pratt calendar.

What about museums? What other companies (besides Google) have speaker series?

"Don't just sit there," he said. "Come with me!"
Just inside the building I got another shock. As we approached a mirror Dr. Bledsoe stopped and composed his angrey face like a sculptor, making it a blank mask, leaving only the sparkle of his eyes to betray the emotion that I had seen only a moment before. He looked steadily at himself for a moment; then we moved quietly down the silent hall and up the stairs.

Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man

What a great paragraph.

New York Eats

Grimaldi's Pizza, excellent but "Soup Nazi" service.

Nino's Pizza, 9110 3rd Ave, Brooklyn. Supposed to be great.

Madiba still my favorite restaraunt, period.

Sripraphai in Queens - very good Thai.

Craft Bar was excellent. Particularly wonderful service. Also, WichCraft, their sandwich deal is wonderful and omnipresent.

Columbine 229 W Broadway Tribeca is another great lunch place.

Tanoreen Wonderful palestinian and mediterranean food. Hit or miss, but the only restaraunt in ny that I irresistably crave.

New Prospect Cafe 393 Flatbush Ave Brooklyn unassuming but very good. Comfort food.

That curry truck that hangs out on the east side of Washington Square.

There's a Beard Papa near Grand Central Station that sells more than just the signature desserts. It also includes simple Japanese lunch stuff - sushi, sandwiches, etc. Excellent and cheap. I can't find it on google maps. It might be: Cafe Zaiya 18 E 41st St, Manhattan.
